First International Workshop on Software Engineering Automation: A Natural Language Perspective
ASE 2020 Workshop, Mon 21 - Fri 25 September 2020 Melbourne, Australia.
The modern day economies and their respective GDP’s are greatly dependent on the most modern computer based systems not only in terms of operations of different products/processes but also itself forming a saleable and exportable commodity. These systems need to be implemented using the most modern technology development paradigms. The growth in these paradigms has led to numerous challenges to software development engineers, ranging from human communication and creational to hardcore technological challenges. The researchers and practitioners have taken advantage from the advancements of artificial intelligence (AI) in general and the Natural Language Processing (NLP) in specific. They have extended NLP to all phases of the software development life cycle i.e. from requirements through to maintenance; making it one of the critical components of modern-day software engineering. The extended possibilities for automatic extraction of information from different documents, identification of functional and non-functional requirements, and test suites etc. from the different sources of information are promising for cost effective software development through the evolution and application of NLP based techniques. With the rapid advancements in machine learning and artificial intelligence, use of natural language-based techniques and methodologies for software engineering are introduced and further optimized for greater efficiency in software engineers, processes and the product. From requirements to test cases, and from architecture to documentation, the natural language artifacts are now been used and reused.
The international workshop on Software Engineering Automation: A Natural Language Perspective (NLP-SEA) is an initiative to consider above mentioned considerations and challenges. A Natural Language Perspective (NLP-SEA) aims at bringing together international researchers and practitioners in the fields of automated software engineering and natural language processing to present and discuss applications, experiences and emerging advanced techniques. To this end, the workshop welcomes original articles on every aspect related to application of NLP in Automated SE or Application of SE techniques for NLP. Workshop aims at the contributions towards having scientific novelty as well as to foster discussion and networking.
